A big milestone during my presidency is the announcement of the future ACCA qualification. This turning point marks a transformative leap for the ACCA community by advancing accountancy education, reshaping the profession and expanding access for ambitious learners worldwide.
It represents not just a change to our qualification, but a redefinition of how accountants see themselves and their role in society. It also opens up exciting opportunities for many more people all around the world to study with us and to plan their professional careers.
I’m proud of the breadth and scope of this new vision. As with everything we do, the future qualification is built on our strong vision of thinking ahead and creating value for all.
It means that the ACCA qualification isn’t simply a licence to work or a line on a CV, or even a certificate to hang on a wall. Rather, it cultivates a mindset; it is a lens through which professionals view the world, influence change and contribute meaningfully to society.
New students will master the disciplines that are growing in importance all the time
New students will investigate and master the disciplines that are growing in importance all the time – to do with business and the environment, social sustainability and creating value for all.
They will understand how accountants can serve as a force for public good in a complex world. They will also get to build technical fluency in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, preparing themselves to lead in digital-era landscapes. In doing so, they will unlock unprecedented career paths and develop professional versatility.
The vision for the new qualification has been shaped through deep, meaningful consultation with young learners, ACCA members, global employers, universities and our education partners. I extend my gratitude to colleagues and collaborators worldwide. This qualification stands as a testament to partnership and collective effort.
The new qualification will build on the strengths of our existing gold-standard qualification
Our first exams in the new structure are scheduled for mid-2027, which marks a fresh beginning full of promise for students, partners and the profession at large. You can find out more on our website.
The future ACCA qualification is ready to revolutionise accountancy education. I am thrilled that it builds successfully on the strengths of our existing gold-standard qualification.
