The most important business lesson I have learned in my career is to have an adaptive mindset. This allows you to approach change with positivity and creativity.
I work with a large and expanding team of diverse individuals, from a range of sustainability backgrounds. We each have a curious mindset and believe that our team has a role to play in creating a greener economy with our clients.

EY and the climate change and sustainability services team place a huge emphasis on continuous learning and development, and staying ahead of industry topics. Our expertise means we often find ourselves contributing to industry discussions and seminars about sustainable finance regulations.
It is hugely rewarding to see the impact the accounting profession can have in creating positive change for the environment and society. The sustainability sector is evolving constantly, and the labyrinth of reporting requirements is becoming ever more onerous. Accounting, auditing, financial and legal backgrounds bring the discipline of a compliance mindset to a complex subject matter, as well as the right skillset to assist organisations with understanding how sustainability matters will impact various parts of the organisation, and ultimately their financial statements and annual report.

My team has a particular focus on high-quality reporting and disclosures, and assisting our clients with developing implementation plans to onboard new reporting requirements in as straightforward a way as possible. We believe that reporting requirements drive the right behaviour changes in organisations, and this drives a significantly positive impact on not only the governance structures of the organisation but the wider economy, environment and society.
Banks and other financial institutions have a key role in promoting the transition to a carbon-neutral and sustainable Europe. Financial institutions that identify strategies for adopting a successful environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework from product to reporting are likely to have better corporate performances.

Our goal for 2024 is to assist clients with developing the next stage of their sustainability planning, including nature and social strategies. We are also looking forward to seeing the data landscape for ESG reporting evolve, and understanding better the role artificial intelligence will have in our industry. Away from work, I like to spend as much time as possible with my two young daughters and wider family. I’m an avid reader and enjoy discovering good food and dining experiences with friends. I am lucky enough to live close to the seafront in Dublin, and a lot of my spare time is spent outdoors.
