This month we celebrated International Women’s Day. To mark the occasion we featured Fatma Al-Maawali FCCA, who has twice been seconded to Oman’s Ministry of Finance from her long-term role at Petroleum Development Oman, most recently to lead an ambitious project to value the entirety of the country’s government assets. She discusses the status of women in Oman and the satisfaction she gains from advising government ministers.

We also meet Azeeza Aziz Khan FCCA, director at Bangladesh infrastructure giant Summit Group, who talks about her dynamic role and the importance of networks for women to support women in the workplace.

For practitioners, we talk to senior figures at Middle East and African firms about the benefits of joining an international grouping of practices, and we also have an update on the new audit licensing regulations in the UAE.

In other news, we look at ACCA research into businesses’ progress in achieving net-zero targets. Companies have some way to go in meeting their climate change goals, and the article offers tips for how finance professionals can support transition planning.

Finally, this month AB has published a special edition focusing on big tech. Readers can earn free CPD units while learning about some of the latest developments in AI, climate tech, cybersecurity, audit technology, cryptos, NFTs and more.
