Staying updated with industry trends and regulations, especially in crossborder transactions, is essential. In 2023 I aim to enhance my expertise in financial analysis and valuation methodologies, focusing on discounted cashflow modelling, comparable company analysis and transaction multiples. Additionally, I plan to deepen my understanding of capital markets and financing options, including debt, equity and alternative sources. Ultimately, I aim to become a trusted adviser, providing clients with strategic insights for complex deal transactions.
I aspire to take on leadership positions that allow me to drive positive change
My aspirations encompass both professional and personal growth. In the business realm, I aspire to take on leadership positions that allow me to drive positive change and contribute to strategic decision-making processes. I also have the long-term goal of leveraging my expertise and experience, and I mentor students on Singapore Management University’s MSc finance programme.
ACCA has been extremely important in shaping my career journey. The qualification has equipped me with a strong foundation in accounting, finance and auditing, which are highly valued skills in the professional services industry. The comprehensive nature of the ACCA syllabus and its alignment with international accounting standards provide me the knowledge and expertise required to excel in my role. Additionally, the global recognition and reputation of the qualification have opened doors to career opportunities and helped me to establish credibility in the field.
One of my ACCA instructors has played a significant role in instilling my passion for continuous learning
I started my career by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Madras in Chennai. At the same time I pursued the ACCA qualification at Platinum Approved Learning Partner ANSA, winning the All India Affiliate Rank 1 and All India Rank 1 in Audit & Assurance – F8. I then had the opportunity to work in PwC’s risk assurance services team in India.
In my current role I’m involved in providing financial and strategic advisory to clients, particularly around valuations, mergers and acquisitions. I assist in valuation analysis and financial modelling to support clients in making informed decisions around deal-making and financial reporting.
R S Murali, one of my instructors at ANSA, has played a significant role in shaping my career and instilling a passion for continuous learning and growth. His methodology, which linked concepts to real-world experiences, enhanced my critical-thinking abilities, and his emphasis on values and ethics has left a lasting impression on me.
If I weren’t an accountant, I’d be interested in exploring a career in cricket or sports analytics, specifically focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). With my passion for cricket and interest in data analysis, combining the two would be a fascinating avenue. I’d leverage AI and ML algorithms to analyse player performance and game strategies, and enhance decision-making processes for teams and coaches.
Outside of work, I aim to maintain a healthy work-life balance. It’s important to me to pursue my interests in cricket, travel and reading to continue expanding my horizons.
