The company I work for focuses on long-term apartment rentals and real estate investment trusts (REITs). In China, housing leasing funds and REITs are in their early stages, so regulations, policies and accounting standards are still being established. As professional accountants, we will encounter many unprecedented problems and challenges in practice.
Solving problems gives me a great sense of achievement
My typical daily work involves fund operations, financial analysis, tax filing, budgeting and final accounting, and disclosures. Compared with other industries, accounting at a fund company is highly specialised. Although difficulties and setbacks are inevitable, solving problems gives me a great sense of achievement.
My father is an experienced accountant and, from middle school onwards, I developed a strong interest in economics and finance, choosing economics as my major at university. In my first month on campus I saw an advert for ACCA on the bulletin board and studied for the qualification throughout my degree. After graduation, I gained a master’s in France before joining the tax consulting division of PwC Beijing in 2017.
Only by completing challenging tasks can we truly achieve career growth and accumulate valuable knowledge
Only by understanding investment projects and the operational models of various industries can financial and tax work be completed accurately and timely. At the same time, using the results of fund accounting, the investment and management team can better grasp investment information and increase returns for investors.
With the development of the industry, fund accounting will become increasingly important. Fund accountants need to master IT tools to mine valuable financial data better and faster, which will be a challenge as well as an opportunity.
Be willing to explore and face challenges. Only by completing challenging tasks can we truly achieve career growth and accumulate valuable knowledge. The accounting field is developing rapidly; through continuous learning, we can understand the latest policies and standards, update our knowledge and solve practical problems in a timely manner.
In my leisure time, I pick up my camera and take photos of airplanes at airports and airshows around the world. I also go swimming and play basketball on a regular basis.
