I kickstarted my audit career as an associate in BDO Cambodia in 2011. I grew fond of finance and practice amid the dynamic work environment and through the tremendous learning opportunities that enable young individuals to gain knowledge and practical experience in different industries.
As an audit director at BDO, I’m responsible for directing and driving the success of multiple audit engagements, while coaching and mentoring my team. I get the opportunity to talk to interesting people from different industries through which I also learn the best practices for different businesses. We provide clients with strategic and risk-focused professional insights, with the goal of adding value to their businesses.
Working with people who never hesitate to offer constructive feedback has been a positive influence
One thing I really enjoy about my job are the continuous learning opportunities. The changes in technology, increasing complexity in financial reporting and evolving business environments give rise to new regulations and standards. That means there are more chances for us to furnish clients with the expertise needed so they can adapt to the changes impacting their businesses.
There are many people I can credit as being influential in my career. I’ve learned so much from superiors, peers and subordinates. Working with a diverse group of great people who never hesitate to provide input and offer constructive feedback has been such a positive influence. They’ve all inspired me to come this far.

I feel very lucky to be part of a great team at BDO Cambodia. I’ve been given opportunities to learn and grow professionally by doing what I’m good at, while at the same time positively contributing to the successes of our audit clients.
The achievement I’m most proud of is being where I am today. Being part of the small community of ACCA-qualified members in Cambodia, I’m recognised in and out of the business. Together with the knowledge from the ACCA Qualification and work experience, I’ve progressed from an associate to an audit director. It’s been a long but worthwhile journey, underlining my ability to commit and succeed under pressure.
Cambodia is known for having a conservative business culture, but we increasingly see new startups from young entrepreneurs. They have great potential and bring with them a lot of ideas, creativity, originality and innovation. This shows that Cambodia is now more open to change, and different social norms are being accepted. I therefore hope to see more investment and more businesses flourishing here.
If I weren’t an auditor, I’d be an English as a second language teacher because I also have a degree in education. It would be a way to contribute to students’ development, to inspire them while learning something every day.
