I majored in accounting and finance during my undergraduate university studies, which was when I started studying accounting. Basic knowledge of accounting is the fundamental essence of the finance industry.
I decided to get the ACCA Qualification because it was the sole qualification that allowed me to take the exam before completing an undergraduate degree. This gave me more time to study for the exam.
After graduation, I worked in a Big Four firm before moving to my current role, which involves financial advice to M&A projects, including financial modelling as well as examining companies’ financials and validation. It is both interesting and challenging, since each project has different backgrounds and characteristics.
Through this role, I can participate in projects involving various industries and deal types. No two deals are quite the same, and I have the chance to work with clients from different industries.

In the longer term, some auditing and accounting work may be replaced by IT, or artificial intelligence. It’s like another industrial revolution and it has, of course, been slightly accelerated by Covid-19. Working from home has allowed us to develop new knowledge.
Meanwhile, the accounting profession is evolving rapidly in China. There are many talented professionals working very hard across all industries. There are lots of things to study and improve on, and I put in effort to polish my professional skills through hard work. I think it’s important to take every opportunity to explore any possibility and find your passion.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching movies, hiking and gatherings with friends. I like sci-fi movies: my favourite is Interstellar.
