There are two distinct parts to my career. I started in accounting and finance over 20 years ago, with the first 15 years spent as an auditor and later as a CFO. I then expanded my knowledge and skills within human resources.
Over the past eight years, I’ve migrated HR delivery, led an HR global services centre and served as a global head of HR compliance. Recently, my role was extended to group level.
When I graduated from university, my goal was to join a multinational company to build a stable base for career growth. Working as an auditor for PwC provided me with this opportunity. I participated in several privatisation deals, which was a one-of-a-kind experience in the business history of my country.
Throughout my career, I have benefited from working with skilled mentors and coaches
While working as the CFO of Citibank, one of my stakeholders was the HR team and I dived into the services provided by these colleagues. This allowed me to spot the benefits of combining the perspectives of the more structured and the more people-oriented areas of the business.
My next career steps combined the development of process-driven services and building people-focused policies.
Tek Experts, part of YNV Group, has a ‘global giving back’ strategy where we look at the health of our people, our communities and the environment. One of our key partnerships for 2021 has been with One Tree Planted. We have held Tek Giving Back Days with many employees participating in Bulgaria, Costa Rica and Nigeria. In the rest of our countries, including China, Rwanda, the US and Vietnam, the teams participated in World Cleanup Day. Our goal is to promote responsible behaviour.
Coaching is my way of giving back to the community. Throughout my career, I have benefited from working with skilled mentors and coaches. In Bulgaria, coaching is a profession that has emerged as a business and personal necessity over the past few years. Partnering with young managers in establishing their own professional paths is a highly rewarding experience for me.
I enjoy the breadth of my role, which provides me with constant interaction with numerous stakeholders
If I were to suggest a new law, I would support establishing government financial schemes for private corporations that develop large scale traineeship programmes. I have always been impressed by corporations who invest in growing new talent.
In my current role, I am responsible for a large variety of activities. Some are of a standard HR nature while others are project based. I enjoy the breadth of my role, which provides me with constant interaction with numerous stakeholders and many different diverse teams, contributing to the implementation of corporate strategy from different perspectives.
I feel my best achievement has been completing a challenging qualification from a renowned institution in both areas of my career. I believe anyone eager to contribute to their organisation and community should continue learning and practicing their knowledge.
I would like to be part of a permanent internal corporate coaching programme. Assigning a personal coach to every employee in an organisation like ours would allow every person to find the necessary support for their career advancement.
Five years ago, I read Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying. Ever since, I have found great motivation for growth in applying its principles to all spheres in life. I’m now a great fan of the KonMari method.
