I started my career by working part-time for a local bank, while continuing my studies at university. It was the first time I was able to utilise what I was learning in school and apply this knowledge to my job, from physical counting to investigating false banknotes and reporting to the bank.

As I was preparing my graduation thesis, I received an offer to start as an auditor for PwC Albania. I stayed there for eight years before moving to Deloitte Albania in 2016. I provide services to both international and local clients, including audit, assurance and advisory for a variety of industries.

I am grateful to have two wonderful young children and a husband who supports every life choice I have made

If someone had asked me in my teenage years what my profession would be, I certainly would not have said auditor. I am happy that I chose auditing, though, as it was truly the best decision of my professional life. I am someone who is quite inquisitive. I wanted the possibility to learn at a larger scale and more intensive pace by seeing the business from different angles, and brainstorming solutions with the best practitioners. I found this in audit.

My parents have always been the source of my inspiration. Their support gave me the foundation on which my career goals were built. My goal has always been to reach the top of the career ladder while doing a job with a purpose.

The aspects I enjoy most about my job are the sense of belonging, having a workplace where I can be inspired and be inspiring, while continuously growing. I also appreciate the energy I receive from my team, clients and international colleagues.

I aim to inspire young talents and nurture a passion for the accounting profession by being a part-time lecturer in one of the Economic Faculties in Tirana. Teaching is one of my greatest passions. I have always embraced Nelson Mandela’s quote: ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’

Businesses in Albania still face a lot of challenges. There are frequent legislative changes, lack of proper infrastructure, poor enforcement of contracts, and not enough reform in some sectors. However, the country has also shown progress, especially in its recovery from the pandemic, and there are significant opportunities across a wide range of sectors including energy, agriculture, tourism, telecommunication and virtual services.

If I had law-making powers, I would focus my efforts on supporting and expanding the potential of our youth. I would also incentivise agriculture, tourism and sport.

My biggest achievement in life is my family. I am grateful to have two wonderful young children and a husband who supports every life choice I have made. I have also had the opportunity to pursue a successful and interesting career, which I believe has made a difference.

If I was not an accountant, I would have become a writer, maybe for the screen. I would have aimed to positively influence people’s lives.

I spend my free time in outdoor activities such as hiking and climbing, as I like to stay close to nature. I also enjoy travelling, as I am especially interested in learning about foreign cultures and traditions. I find it a powerful way of recharging both physically and mentally.
