I graduated from the University of Economics, Prague, subsequently obtaining a PhD. I then joined PwC, following a classic internship in audit. Currently, I‘m the director of the firm’s capital markets and accounting advisory services department.
Previously I was the chief of staff of the Central and Eastern European assurance team, gaining valuable experience during my secondment to PwC Seattle. In recent years, I’ve been dedicated to implementing modern technologies into accounting.
I‘ve met many people who‘ve influenced me during my career. I am currently trying to have one or two mentors from whom I take inspiration. I also joined the Odyssey programme, which is focused on developing women professionals, as a mentor, and my mentees inspire me as well.
I can see that the pandemic has really helped us accelerate and made us more agile than we used to be
I went into practice as I enjoy meeting inspirational people who are experienced professionals working across diverse projects. My role also teaches me how various kinds of businesses and industries operate.
I stepped out of my comfort zone during my secondment in Seattle. It was early in my career, I was on my own and I had to deal with everything myself.
The PwC branch there has some significant clients, such as Starbucks, Microsoft and Amazon. The business dynamics, emphasis on modern technologies and trendsetting inspired me and helped lead me to my current position.
I think our firm was well prepared for the current pandemic. There are a lot of young people in our teams and remote work is not a problem for them. I can see that this situation has really helped us accelerate and made us more agile than we used to be.
In my role it‘s the diversity that I enjoy the most. Every client is different and we have to learn something new. I like the culture at PwC – how people behave towards each other, how they support and learn from one another. I don’t think this is too common in business.
My biggest achievement is definitely my children. The fact that I’ve managed to combine my career with raising them is really important to me.
If I hadn’t been an accountant, I’d have studied architecture. I like functional design where things both look good and work well. The best solution is usually the one that is simple and intuitive.
I like hiking, skiing and travelling with my family. I love jogging and my weekly running dose of 50km helps me de-stress. For a long time I did ballroom dancing professionally, competing with my husband at international level, and we still enjoy dancing.
