The 30% Club in Ireland has set up a series of partnerships with a number of learning institutions to address the underrepresentation of women in postgraduate management education, by offering scholarships aimed at women.

More than 80 professional women have benefitted from such scholarships over the past seven years, and the application process is now open for this year. There are 28 scholarships on offer nationwide, and some 20 educational institutions taking part. Many provide full-fee scholarships and others offer reductions in course fees.

There are a variety of options to choose from, ranging from generalist programmes such as an MBA to qualifications in innovation management, investment management , leadership, project management and public policy.

The 30% Club’s mission is to achieve gender balance on boards and in senior management. It argues that greater diversity encourages better leadership and governance, and contributes to better all-round board performance.

Caitriona Allis, ACCA Ireland head, who is a member of the 30% Club, said: ‘This initiative offers ACCA members opportunities to gain new skills and develop their leadership potential.’  Other members of the Ireland chapter are representatives from a wide range of organisations including the Big Four and other professional services firms, household-name multinationals and local companies.
